'Dual remediation of waste waters from methylene blue and chromium (VI) using thermally induced ZnO nanofibers' is now available online in Applied Surface Science, February 27, 2020
The current manuscript proposes a simple thermal method to induce bifunctional activity on zinc oxide nanofibers toward photodegradation of methylene blue and chromium (VI) adsorption for the treatment of wastewaters. The rapid cooling strategy has been applied in this work for the first time on the ZnO nanofibers. It proves that fast cooling upgrades the surface area and the porous structure enabling highly enhanced adsorption ability. At the same time, creating more defects that promote trapping generated photo-electrons and delaying the recombination period, in addition to exposing more active sites and enlarging the reaction interface.
